Policy setting: Determine POSITION from Operating System’s location services

When ENABLED, uses the Operating System’s location services to determine the position.

This feature requires at least Windows 10. The user may need to grant permissions for this feature to be used.

‘Timeout (Seconds)’ defines the number of seconds to wait for the position whilst blocking access to the shell. If the timeout is reached, then all location properties are set to ‘Loading’ until the position has been determined. Setting the timeout to 0 ensures that we wait indefinitely for the position.

‘Interval (Seconds)’ defines the number of seconds between position updates. This value can be set to 0 to not provide updates.

‘Sources’ defines the permitted sources used to determine the position. If the source returned by the Operating System is not listed then it will not be used.

The default value is enabled with a Timeout of 5 seconds, an Interval of 60 seconds with Satellite, WiFi and Cellular sources.

Policy setting: Determine POSITION from Third Party provider

When ENABLED, uses a Third Party geolocation provider to determine the position using the available WiFi access points.

To use this feature, provide the URL of the Third Party geolocation provider. deviceTRUST will attempt to read the latitude, longitude and accuracy from the response.

‘Timeout (Seconds)’ defines the number of seconds to wait for the position whilst blocking access to the shell. If the timeout is reached, then all location properties are set to ‘Loading’ until the position has been determined. Setting the timeout to 0 ensures that we wait indefinitely for the position.

‘Interval (Seconds)’ defines the number of seconds between position updates. This value can be set to 0 to not provide updates.

‘Only when OS location is unavailable’ when checked ensures that the Third Party geolocation provider is only used when the position is unavailable from the Operating System’s location services. When unchecked, the provider which returns the most accurate position will be used.

Use of this feature may be subject to third party terms and conditions.

The default value is disabled.

Policy setting: Limit POSITION updates from Third Party provider when WiFi access points are unchanged

When ENABLED, prevents position updates from a Third Party geolocation provider unless a specified number of the strongest access points can no longer be detected.

‘Monitor Strength’ defines a lower limit of the signal strength between 0 and 100 of the access points which are to be monitored. A signal strength of 0 corresponds to an RSSI strength of -100 dbm. A signal strength of 100 corresponds to an RSSI strength of -50 dbm.

‘Refresh Percentage’ defines the percentage of monitored access points that can no longer be detected before a position update is requested.

The default value is disabled.

Policy setting: Determine ADDRESS from position using a Third Party provider

When ENABLED, uses Third Party geocoding provider to determine the address from the position.

To use this feature, provide the URL of the Third Party geocoding provider. The URL may contain %LAT% and %LNG% variables which will be replaced by the latitude and longitude coordinates to query. deviceTRUST will attempt to read the address information, such as country, county, town and road, from the response.

Use of this feature may be subject to third party terms and conditions.

Policy setting: Distance between position to refresh ADDRESS from Third Party provider

When ENABLED, defines a distance in meters that the position can change before triggering an update of the address from the Third Party geocoding provider.

When DISABLED, the address is never updated.

The default value is disabled.

Policy setting: Enable LOCATION properties for users

Defines a list of users that will enable LOCATION properties.

This policy works together with the ‘Disable LOCATION properties for users’ policy, with disabled users taking precedence over enabled users.

Defines a list of users what will enable LOCATION properties.

User and security group names can be supplied in the format DOMAIN\UserName or DOMAIN\SecurityGroupName, where DOMAIN is either the SAM compatible domain, or the DNS domain name.

The default value includes all users.

Policy setting: Disable LOCATION properties for users

Defines a list of users that will disable LOCATION properties.

This policy works together with the ‘Enable LOCATION properties for users’ policy, with disabled users taking precedence over enabled users.

Defines a list of users what will disable LOCATION properties.

Policy setting: Disable device LOCATION properties for internal users

Defines whether to disable device LOCATION properties for internal users.

This policy is only applied to Citrix and VMware users.

When ENABLED, device LOCATION properties will be disabled for internal users accessing the virtual session.

When DISABLED, device LOCATION properties will not be disabled for internal users accessing the virtual session.

The default behavior is disabled.
